One of the most immediate effects of the Meiji restoration was end of national isolation from the rest of the world. Western powers quickly flooded in to by Japanese goods and make a quick fortune, but the westerns also brought their style of art and music with them as well. The Japanese selectively borrowed from the west, such as this two point perspective seen in the floor of this painting, a western style that replaced the old liner perspective of traditional Japanese art. Also western musical intsternants can be seen played by a group of performers and a large western style piano.
